Drawing

The drawings are an investigation into the invented and the loosely defined. I see the process of attaching marks to the neutrality of the white space as a drama, one where rehearsal and performance interweave to dissolve sequence; where intention and intuition allow both impulse and control to have equal value. Each work has a life and direction of its own - on a journey, creating the material evidence of its own history. An artist always starts the journey, develops an empathy with the progress and has to recognise the moment of its greatest visual strength. Within any theme, it is helpful to produce a related series; this creates space for the works to feed off each other.
